Awards
- Three times - in 2007, 2008 and 2009 Drupal won Webware 100 (this award is usually given to the best of today sites, web services and applications)
- Drupal – is an absolute winner of the Packt Open Source CMS and a winner in the category of PHP. CMS was the main rival to Joomla! The winners were chosen by a jury of experts in their field, as well as visitors to the Packt site.

Technical Features
Drupal architecture allows it to be used whilst creating different types of sites - from blogs and forums, to archives of information or news sites. Available by default functional can be increased whilst adding additional extensions - "modules" in the terminology of Drupal. The most important functions provided by Drupal «out of the box:
- common categorization of all kinds of content (taxonomy) - from forum posts to blogs and news articles
- a wide range of properties in the construction topic/heading: flat lists, hierarchies, hierarchy, with common ancestors, synonyms, related categories
- nesting of categories of any depth
- Site content search, including the search for Taxonomy and users
- concurrent access to the documents (role model)
- dynamic menu construction
- XML-format support: the output of documents in RDF / RSS, aggregation of content from other sites, BlogAPI to publish material with the help of external applications
- Sign in via OpenID
- Character meaningful URL (otherwise "human-friendly" - NC)
- site interface translations into different languages, and support of multilingual content
- the possibility to create sites with an overlapping content (such as a common base of users or general settings)
- separate site configurations for different virtual hosts (including their own set of modules and themes for each sub-site)
- the mechanism to limit the load on the site (auto shut off of some information blocks and modules at high attendance and huge traffic)
- the notification of the emerging modules update
